Spencer Davis is our guest on Fan4Racing NASCAR Weekend Preview on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 9 pm ET. Call 929-477-1790 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite with any questions or comments during our LIVE broadcast.

Surprisingly at just 20 years of age, Spencer Davis, now with Rette Jones Racing is a veteran in his fifth season for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Davis has an impressive resume that includes seven ARCA Menard Series and six Gander Outdoors Truck Series starts. This weekend, he’ll wheel the No. 30 in the Zombie Auto 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 6th.

The goal for Davis is to campaign for the K&N East championship title this season after earning a top-ten finish in the season opener at New Smyrna Speedway in February.

“I feel like we’re more than capable of doing it,” says Davis. “The two times I’ve ran enough races to accumulate points, I was in the top-ten and I hadn’t ran all the races in K&N. I feel like if I get all the races like we’re going to do this year, there’s no doubt in my mind we’re a championship contender. I feel like everyone knows that. Even with my little splashes last year with running well, leading laps, I feel like it was the beginning of this awesome year we’re going to have.”

Team co-owner Mark Rette is a good friend of Davis and has played a big role in keeping Davis behind the wheel. Last season he ran with DWR in the No. 82 with mechanical support from RJR as their satellite team. This season, Rette allowed Davis to bring some key crew members over to his No. 30 team and they believe that will help them contend for the title along with Davis’ experience in the previous four years running part-time.

“I’m pretty much a veteran of this series until Brandon McReynolds comes to these races,” says Davis. “I have the most experience of anyone in the field. I go out there and try to win every weekend, it doesn’t matter what the circumstance is. It doesn’t matter if we only have one car and I’m borrowing springs, I still go in with the same mentality. Being able to race with Mark (Rette) I know I have the tools to go do it and have the people behind me. You have to capitalize.”

A NASCAR Next alum, Davis had five starts last season in the NASCAR Truck Series earning two top-tens along with 34 K&N Pro Series starts under his belt over the last four years. In total for the K&N East, he has two poles, one victory at Dominion Raceway in 2016, along with 14 top-five and 23 top-ten finishes.

“It’s been a long time since Victory Lane,” Davis recounted while looking at his Dominion trophy. “It’s been a couple seasons and I’m ready to get back. I know we can do it this year and I know we will do it this year. Minimizing mistakes and now we’ve learned this tire, that’s gonna be a big help.”

At New Smyrna earlier this year Davis started 11th and even with the new General Tire and the unknown variable of tire wear, he brought home a seventh-place finish.

The 2019 season is the first time Davis is running the full K&N East schedule giving him his first chance at winning the championship. That makes Spencer Davis one to watch at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend and beyond.
