Harvick wins ninth race of the season in the NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Bristol Motor Speedway played host for the final race in the first round of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. The fight for the Round of 12 final spots are tight through the first two races, and those looking to advance had one last chance. That opportunity is in a 500-lap run on the bull ring of Bristol Motor Speedway, and the event surely lives up to the drama unfolding in the last few weeks.
The First Stage
Brad Keselowski in the pole position has control of the field through the green flag start. On lap 18, Kevin Harvick overcomes Keselowski for the lead. Shortly after, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finds the wall bringing out the first caution of the evening. All lead lap cars came down pit road for service.
Matt DiBenedetto wins the race off pit road with a two-tire stop. Brad Keselowski quickly passes DiBenedetto. And, Chase Elliott meanwhile has a strong car all evening and fights his way to the front. With 18 laps remaining in the stage. Elliott passes Keselowski for the race lead and navigates his way through the lap traffic to win the first stage.
The Second Stage
Kyle Busch moves into the top spot after winning the race off pit road. He quickly moves out to a big lead as the rest of the field chases behind. Kyle Busch leads the entirety of the second stage.
The Third Stage
Kyle Busch continues to lead heading into the final stage of the race. On lap 281, Kevin Harvick catches Busch and quickly makes the pass for the lead.
The NASCAR Cup Series Point Standings
Kevin Harvick is having a career year and is not slowing down. He has earned his ninth win of the year with seven more races remaining. Kevin Harvick sits at the top of the leaderboard by 19 points.
However, the schedule takes another turn. Next week’s race is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway starts the Round of 12. For those now on the outside of the cutline for the Round of 8, this race is a safe bet to go for the win. With Talladega Superspeedway and the Charlotte Roval on the horizon, the race at Las Vegas is the one to be aggressive for a victory.
