Christian Eckes Makes Statement with Dominant Win in ARCA Menards Series FORTS USA 150 at Pocono Raceway

Christian Eckes is our next guest on Fan4Racing NASCAR & Race Talk at 9 pm ET on Monday, July 29, 2019. Call 929-477-1790 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite with any questions or comments during our LIVE broadcast.

Christian Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio Toyota) made a statement that he will be a threat for the ARCA Menards Series championship with a dominant victory in Friday’s FORTS USA 150 at Pocono Raceway. Eckes took control on lap 35 when the dominant driver in the early stages of the race, General Tire Pole Award winner Todd Gilliland (No. 18 Frontline Enterprises Toyota), was penalized for a blend line violation after his only pit stop of the afternoon.

Eckes led the final 26 laps of the caution-free race to score his second win of the season and fifth overall.

Once Eckes was alerted by his crew that he would be the leader after Gilliland’s penalty, he kept his head in the game to minimize mistakes.

“Once they told me what happened to the 18 it was all about keeping our heads down and not making any mistakes,” Eckes said. “We knew there was a long way to go and we needed to be perfect to close it out.”

Hattori Racing Enterprises is an anomaly within NASCAR ranks as they participate in the K&N Pro Series East along with the Gander Outdoors Truck Series, where they won the championship title last year with Brett Moffitt. And that’s because their participation in the sport gives the two series an amazing international exposure that is driven by the man behind the organization. That man is Shigeaki Hattori who came to the United States from Japan at the age of 30 in 1995.

David Hyatt: Iowa Speedweeks is About the Fans

Photo – Courtesy of Iowa Speedway

Former president of MRN radio, David Hyatt knows what it takes to give the fans what they want after 20 plus years at the helm.  He brings that same mentality to his current role as president of Iowa Speedway, now in just his second full season in the position.  With the races in 2019 scheduled the way they were, the race track ended up with doubleheader race weekends back-to-back, making for a very busy couple of weeks hosting the NTT Indy Car Series, the ARCA Menards Series last week and both the K&N Pro Series and Xfinity Series under the NASCAR banner this week.  But as the saying goes, sometimes you have to make lemonade from the lemons you are given and Hyatt saw this as an opportunity to maximize fan interaction, thus Iowa Speedweeks was born.
