Kenseth Holds Off Larson to Win Thriller at Dover

Matt Kenseth’s luck took a turn for the better, after Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 Chevrolet took a turn that wrecked half the field in Sunday’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway.

In a thrilling 35-lap run to the finish that featured Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott in hot pursuit of Kenseth – and of each other – Kenseth manhandled a loose race car to the stripe, arriving 0.187 seconds ahead of Larson to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season.

Elliott came home third, a career-best finish for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender. Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch completed the top-five.

Last season, Jimmie Johnson notched his tenth career win at Dover International Speedway – aka the Monster Mile – to become just the fifth driver to visit Victory Lane at least ten times at a single track. 

If he takes the checkered flag in Sunday’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover, Johnson will join Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip as the only drivers to win 11 or more races at single track. Continue reading

Byron, who led the first 33 laps of his career earlier in the race, retook the point on the last go-around of NASCAR Overtime to take the victory that virtually guarantees him a spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase. The story behind Ryan Truex this season is that kind of story. Last January, Ryan Truex wasn’t sure if he’d be racing this season, and now he’s third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series contending for the series’ championship title.
