The Gander Outdoors Truck Series is on break for a couple of weeks before their fourth race of the season at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, March 23rd at 2 pm ET on FOX. In the meantime, here are a few news and notes to stay in touch with the series during their time away from the track.
Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) was considered an underdog in the 2018 Gander Outdoor Truck Series, occasionally scrambling mid-week to secure sponsorship in order to race the next weekend. Against the odds, with Brett Moffitt in the driver’s seat of the No. 16, the team was winning races and always up front, ending the year with six victories and 13 top-tens and allowing them to reach the pinnacle of the sport – the Championship.

Five Flags Speedway is just four hours away from ARCA Menards Series’ driver Bret Holmes hometown and is the track where he cut his teeth for his racing career. He’s raced late-models there winning the track pro-late-model championship in 2016. Along with racing the Snowflake 100, Holmes has also raced the premier late-model event the Snowball Derby finishing third to Chase Elliott and John Hunter Nemechek. So with the ARCA Menards Series’ return to Five Flags Speedway this weekend, Holmes feels like he’s returning home.

After their Superspeedway season opener in February, the ARCA Menards Racing Series now heads to Five Flags Speedway for short track racing. This is ARCA’s first event at the track since 1996 and for many of the competitors, including Michael Self with Venturini Motorsports, their first time racing the half-mile track. Looking to get a feel for the track, Self and his team took part in a test session at the Gulf Coast track last week.
