Phoenix Construction Returns to Daytona with Dalton Sargeant

This year’s Lucas Oil 200 from Daytona International Speedway will carry a long list of firsts for 2016 ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year Dalton Sargeant.  None more exciting than Phoenix Construction and Billy Ballew Motorsports’ return to the historic 2.5 mile superspeedway where they have each found victory lane before.  The race also marks the first time that 18-year old Sargeant will compete at the famed racetrack, as well as his debut with Cunningham Motorsports in the Chad Bryant led No. 77.

Dalton Sargeant Joins Cunningham Motorsports for 2017 ARCA Racing Series Championship

As the 2016 ARCA Racing Series champs, Cunningham Motorsports has a lot to celebrate at the Series banquet later this evening.  But, they certainly aren’t resting on their laurels…they are looking forward to next season, when they plan to contend for back to back championships.

The first order of business at the press conference, held in conjunction with the annual PRI show, was Jeff Clark, speaking on behalf of Ford Performance, announced that the Cunningham organization has been designated as a driver development partner with Ford Performance.

Briscoe & Cunningham Motorsports Wrap up 2016 ARCA Series Championship with Kansas 150 Win

As soon as Chase Briscoe rolled on the track Friday at Kansas Speedway, he became the 2016 ARCA Racing Series champion.  That wasn’t as simple as it sounds, as weather caused the practice sessions to be cancelled, with the originally scheduled qualifying time being used for practice.  As a result of that schedule change, the starting line-up was set by car owner points, with Briscoe on the pole—his tenth time starting there (six as a result of on-track qualifying and four from being the points leader or leader in practice when rain cancelled qualifying). Cunningham Motorsports has announced that Grant Enfinger will become the ninth driver to take the reins of their No. 22 Ford, when teams pull into the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Sunday, September 4.  Enfinger, who is the 2015 ARCA Racing Series champion, was the logical choice of co-owners Briggs Cunningham and Kerry Scherer, since Grant is the reigning pole and race winner at the one-mile dirt track in DuQuoin, Illinois.
