Meeting My NASCAR Idols – Incredible!

Everyone has them; they could be superstar athletes or everyday people. I have been privileged enough to meet three of my idols over the past month. With every encounter, I was star struck. Talking to someone that you admire, care for and respect, creates an incredible feeling inside of you. I have felt that feeling inside of me three times in the past month. “Incredible”. Jeff Gordon takes Second Wild Card; Jimmie Johnson the Favorite

Saturday night started out with a down pour of rain and ended with a down pour of excitement.

As wild card teams went into Richmond International Raceway this week, they all knew their individual scenarios to make the Chase. The #2 wild card drivers were Joey Logano, Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Newman, Paul Menard, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon. Kasey Kahne already held the first wild card spot because of his two wins during the regular season. The remaining bubble drivers needed a win to get into the Chase, with the exception of Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch, who were separated by just 12-points.  The stage was set to play out on Saturday night. Due to NASCAR’s rule of four cars per team, the most that one organization can hope for is that all four of them teams make the Chase. 

However due to affiliations that NASCAR allows, history could be made this year at Richmond as we could see five, possibly six, drivers with ties to one organization’s engine program, making the Chase.

That one organization is Hendrick Motorsports.
