Five Legends Unveiled as 2017 NASCAR Hall Of Fame Class

Childress, Hendrick, Martin, Parks and Parsons Comprise Hall’s Eighth Class

NASCAR has announced the inductees who will comprise the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2017. The five-person group – the eighth since the inception of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010 – consists of Richard Childress, Rick Hendrick, Mark Martin, Raymond Parks and Benny Parsons. In addition, NASCAR announced that Martinsville Speedway founder H. Clay Earles won the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel met today in a closed session at the Charlotte Convention Center to debate and vote upon the 20 nominees for the induction class of 2017 and the five nominees for the Landmark Award. Continue reading →

Preview of NASCAR Sprint All Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The annual Sprint All-Star Race is on Saturday, May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway with FOX Sports 1 broadcasting their pre-race show at 8:30 pm ET and the green flag set to wave around 8:30 pm ET. Radio coverage is on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90. 

Due to inclement weather, both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Sprint Showdown  events will now take place on Saturday, May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Sprint Showdown will begin at 11 am ET with Chase Elliott leading the field to green with the lineup set by Sprint Cup Series owner points. The green flag for the Camping World Truck Series, North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will drop at 12:30 pm ET with William Byron on the pole after setting field from speeds in Thursday’s practice session. Television coverage for both events is on FOX Sports 1 with radio coverage on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Friday tickets are good for Saturday’s Sprint Showdown and North Carolina Education Lottery 200; Fans who wish to stay for Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race activities can buy those tickets at the ticket office or any ticket gate.

Changes to NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Format

The 31st NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race will take place on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 

This season, the event will last 113 laps total. Drivers will run two 50-lap segments with mandatory green-flag pit stops. After the segments, the event will culminate in a 13-lap dash to the $1 million prize. Continue reading →

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams are racing the Food City 500 for 266.5 miles equaling 500 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 17th. FOX will broadcast the race beginning with their pre-race show at 12:30 pm ET and a green flag around 1 pm ET. Radio coverage is on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Triple Play: Kyl3 Busch Visits Top Track in Search of Third Straight Win

Baseball season has started, but Kyle Busch may turn the first triple play of 2016.

Busch will attempt to win his third consecutive Sprint Cup Series race in Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Busch achieved the feat last season when he placed first at Kentucky, New Hampshire and Indianapolis. If Kyle Busch wins this weekend, he’ll have won three consecutive races in back-to-back season. The last person to do that: Jeff Gordon, in 1998-99. Continue reading →

Frustation and Dilemma for No. 24 Jeff Gordon Fans

Sounds a bit as blasphemy now, but during the 90’s I was sick and tired of watching Dale Earnhardt win all the time. So, when Jeff Gordon came on the scene and finally gave the Intimidator some competition in the Winston Cup, now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – immediately, I became a fan. All these years later, after witnessing the end of Gordon’s storied career, I am having a little trouble accepting Chase Elliott taking over the reins of the No. 24 and trust me, even going as far as resenting him for it. Perhaps others can relate to these feelings of frustration and understand the dilemma. In Race with Sports World, Fuel Tank of NASCAR is Infinite

If you can remember a televised race without a leaderboard when, after going to use the restroom coming back and just assuming the car being shown on television was the leader, maybe you can relate to this.

A lot of negativity, concern and speculation are very present for some NASCAR fans about the steadily diminishing ratings and numbers on all fronts of the sport year after year. An in-depth investigation into the continued trends of what is happening could lead one to believe there won’t much of a sport left in a few more seasons. What the statistics cannot show and express is an overwhelming rise in popularity for the sport and the slow decline and aftermath that has followed from that point.

At the height of Dale Earnhardt’s career and during Jeff Gordon’s early stardom there was a lot of growing interest for the sport of NASCAR which was continually gaining and spreading across the country. By the turn of the century, uproar of new fans and a myriad of businesses were ready to affiliate themselves and join the bandwagon of professional stock car racing. Continue reading →
