Harvick Grabs Phoenix Win as Tenure with RCR Nears Finish

As 13 successful years with Richard Childress Racing comes to a close for Kevin Harvick, he potentially earned one last win with the team on Sunday. It was his second straight victory in the November Phoenix event and once again on Sunday, the win came with a dramatic turn of events. Jimmie Johnson produced a championship caliber performance Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnson paced the field for most of the day and if he wasn’t up front, he was more than likely in the top three. This is the type of race where Johnson shows why he’s a five-time champion. A season full of ups and downs was at its highest Sunday afternoon for Jeff Gordon. It had been an eight year dry spell for Gordon at Martinsville. He once dominated this track, but as of late, success has not been present for the four-time champion. That all changed with this win, however. Gordon took his first victory of 2013 to keep the championship in sight. Gordon made it to victory lane by keeping his nose out of trouble throughout the day. Many drivers are unable to say that as lots of beating and banging went down on the Virginia short-track throughout the day. Continue reading
