Smith Starts Season Off Right with Daytona Victory

A somewhat surprising outcome to the Drive4COPD 300 featured the outside lane pushing Regan Smith to victory. All day, the outside lane struggled to keep up with the inside lane. The last restart changed everything as Smith was able to stay door-to-door with Brad Keselowski on the inside lane. Smith’s win was the first for a Nationwide regular in the season opener since 2001 when Randy LaJoie took the checkered flag.

If anyone were to say Regan Smith would have ended up in victory lane at the beginning of the race, they would have met weird looks. Smith was not a contender early. It wasn’t until a bit past the halfway point when he was able make it to the front.

Kyle Busch seemed the favorite early as he led for most the race. When Smith took the lead on Lap 76, it was from Busch. Smith and Keselowski seemed the only two drivers able to keep Busch away from the top spot. Continue reading

Chase Elliott Teams with NAPA and JR Motorsports for 2014 Season

Driver Chase Elliott will compete full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports starting in 2014 and do so with NAPA AUTO PARTS as his full-season primary sponsor, the team announced today.

With Elliott as its driver, the 2014 season will mark NAPA’s 19th in NASCAR sponsorship. NAPA (National Automotive Parts Association) has more than 6,000 stores nationwide with more than 400,000 quality parts and accessories for automotive and industrial applications – the most extensive inventory in the industry. Kahne and Sweet to Share a Ride at JR Motorsports

One Nationwide team has announced part of its line-up this year, while leaving more unanswered questions for another NNS team.

2013 will see another pair of drivers at a new home. Kasey Kahne and Brad Sweet, who shared a Nationwide Series ride in the no. 38 Great Clips car, during the 2012 season for Turner Motorsports, will be with a new NNS team this season at JR Motorsports. Continue reading
