Kahne Captures Bristol Win

Just one week after Kasey Kahne was unable to pass Matt Kenseth for the win at Las Vegas and after a dominant day, Kahne pulled into victory lane at Bristol. Kahne didn’t have any challengers late in the race and that allowed him to cruise through the final fifty laps and take the win. Hendrick Motorsports has got the Gen 6 car figured out and that has given them a huge leg-up so far this season. Happy Birthday Matt Kenseth!

What better way to celebrate your birthday than in victory lane? Everything came together Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas for Kenseth and his crew. This win sends a huge statement throughout the garage that says Kenseth is already acquainted with his new team and he is ready to pounce on his competition. Kenseth’s crew chief Jason Ratcliff made the late strategy call by taking no tires on the final pit stop and that allowed Kenseth to be up front. Once Kenseth got to the lead, he never looked back. Kenseth gave Kasey Kahne a few glances in his rearview mirror in the closing laps since Kahne was so close, but other than that, Kenseth didn’t look back once he gained the lead.

The race played out fairly typical for Las Vegas and there were no major surprises. The Gen 6 car’s debut on an intermediate track went well and produced the fantastic race to the finish we witnessed. Continue reading →

Dollar General 200 Preview

The Phoenix International Raceway is the site of the second stop on the 2013 Nationwide Series schedule. A much more calm-mannered race is expected this Saturday at Phoenix but, championship hopefuls will look to get ahead of the game and that could create some excitement. As the championship-contending drivers begin the real hunt for the championship this weekend, they will all be eyeing a jump start in the point’s standings this Saturday during the Dollar General 200. It has been over three months since Brad Keselowski was crowned champion during the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami.

Come Sunday, the wait for Sprint Cup cars to begin their next season will come to an end. The 2013 season has arrived. The Daytona 500 is always the biggest race of the year but, this year, with the Gen 6 cars, it is likely the most anticipated Daytona 500 ever.
