10 Years Of The Whelen Southern Modified Tour

The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will have a milestone weekend when the 2014 season takes the green flag on Sunday at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C. The Whelen Season Opener 150 will launch the 10th season of competition for the Whelen Southern Modified Tour, which held its inaugural event at Caraway on March 26, 2005. George Brunnhoelzl III is a two-time winner of the Caraway opener, and will look to Sunday’s event as an opportunity to launch a potentially historic fourth consecutive championship season. Suárez Overcomes Penalty to Grab Fourth Consecutive Victory

After a pit road mistake, Daniel Suárez comes back with a last lap pass to win the Toyota 120 at Phoenix International Raceway.

After starting from the outside pole position, Suárez wasted no time in racing around pole sitter Rubén Pardo and holding the lead until his stop for fuel on lap 46. That’s when Suárez was speeding on pit road, with a resulting pass-through penalty placing him at the end of the field.  Continue reading

Wendell Scott Decal Sported by Four NASCAR Series at Phoenix

Since 2010, NASCAR has designated the first race weekend in March as a time to commemorate Wendell Scott’s first career start. Scott is the only African- American driver to win a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) Series event in NASCAR history.

Cars in all four NASCAR series competing at Phoenix International Raceway (NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) will sport a commemorative decal.

The decals will be applied to the B or C post of each vehicle during the inspection processes throughout the entire weekend.

K&N Pro Series West & Mexico Toyota Series Gearing Up their Season at Phoenix
