Crew Members Suspended For Violation Of NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy 

NASCARlogoJackson L. Dodson II, a crew member in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Frank W. Earnhardt, a crew member in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, have been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy.

On May 9, Dodson was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2013 NASCAR Rule Book.

On May 10, Earnhardt was found to have violated Sections 12-1 and 19.

Another outstanding and dominant performance by Kyle Busch led him to victory lane Friday night at Darlington. He remained up front in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 for most of the night and by the time the checkered flag fell, he was the leader.

This is Busch’s fifth Nationwide Series victory of the season and his seventh NASCAR win so far in 2013. Busch proved how dominant he is in this race and may only be a warm-up for what will come in tomorrow’s Cup race.

Other than a few cautions, this race went by fairly quickly. Busch led for about the first 50 laps before his teammate, Matt Kenseth, beat him off of pit-road to snag the lead. The caution that set up the lead change, featured another of Busch’s teammates, Elliot Sadler. Sadler spun between turns one and two, but that didn’t slow him down as he ended the night finishing second. Continue reading

Fans of NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Travis Pastrana will get an opportunity to be up-close-and-personal with the X Games Champion when the driver of the No. 60 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing visits Darlington Raceway’s Jack Daniel’s Champions’ Club on Friday, May 10.

Pastrana will participate in a 15-minute question and answer session for fans that purchased the Jack Daniel’s Champions’ Club package for the Nationwide Series VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 race. His appearance time is tentatively scheduled for 1:55 p.m. – 2:10 p.m. Continue reading

Last Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at Talladega Superspeedway, a strong spring storm deposited more than an inch of rain on the grounds around the largest venue in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Despite some breaks in the clouds both days, the 2.66-mile track was soaked at the most inopportune times – just before the start of the NASCAR Nationwide Series (May 4) and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (May 5) races. Every time a driver enters a Talladega race, it’s like entering the lottery. There’s a long-shot at winning, but drivers believe they can since it’s the lottery and anything could happen. When the drivers take to the track this weekend at Talladega, fans expect to see a wild and unpredictable event. Any driver could come out on top and in the past, drivers who weren’t expected to win, won the race. Talladega is a wide-open race where anything and everything will happen.
