Gordon And Stewart Announce New Sponsorship Deals

By Jordan Dodson

Days after announcing Quicken Loans would sponsor Ryan Newman for 18 races next season, Tony Stewart officially announced his own sponsor for 2013. Stewart announced that Bass Pro Shops would be joining Stewart Haas Racing and Stewart for 18 races as a second primary sponsor with Mobil 1 in 2013.

This comes after Stewart Haas Racing announced that Office Depot would no longer be a primary sponsor for Stewart after the this season.

Jonny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, says “We’re darned excited. This is like a dream come true (about the partnership with Stewart).”

Mobil 1 will serve as the primary sponsor 11 races for Stewart next season. There are still nine races available for sponsorship on the 14 car in 2013.

Stewart says if sponsorship is not found for the remaining nine races in 2013 that Haas Automation will sponsor the 14 car. He went on to say Haas Automation sponsor is a “safety net”.

Bass Pro Shops currently sponsors Jamie McMurray in the Sprint Cup series with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. The company also sponsors Ty Dillon in the truck series and Austin Dillon in the Nationwide series.

Bass Pro Shops is in their last contract season with McMurray and will no longer sponsor him after 2012. The company will continue sponsorship with the Dillon brothers and Richard Childress Racing in 2013 along with the new addition of Tony Stewart.

AARP has also signed a one year extension with Hendrick Motorsports and Jeff Gordon through the 2014 for the “Drive to End Hunger” campaign where people can text “HUNGER” to 50555.

The foundation originally signed a three year deal with Hendrick Motorsports and Gordon in 2011. Gordon is sponsoring AARP for 22 races this season while DuPont takes on primary sponsorship for the majority of the remaining races along with Pepsi Max.
