Starting in 2014, Kevin Harvick will be with a new team for the first time in his Sprint Cup Career. Harvick will leave Richard Childress Racing after the 2013 season and drive for Stewart-Haas Racing starting at the Daytona 500 in 2014.

Friday afternoon Marty Smith of ESPN reported that Kevin Harvick would drive for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014. According to Smith, multiple NASCAR industry sources have confirmed the new deal for multiple years. With Harvick joining Stewart-Haas, it appears, the organization will field four cars in 2014. Those drivers include Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart.

When asked about the future deal Harvick said, “I’m looking forward to finishing out this season on a strong note with RCR and continuing to build our program going into the 2013 season with the ultimate goal of winning a championship, anything beyond that, once I know that my future plans are set, I’ll let you know.”

Harvick started driving for RCR in 2001 in place of Dale Earnhardt Sr. after his fatal accident at Daytona. He has been with the team ever since. He considered leaving the team in 2010 when he was in talks about a new contract but ultimately decided to stay with RCR. This time it’s a different outcome.

It’s no secret that RCR has struggled in the Sprint Cup series this season and it is leaving Harvick frustrated. For the 2012 season, RCR has no wins and Harvick is the only driver to make the Chase. Harvick also swapped crew chiefs in the middle of the season due to lack of performance.

With the struggles at RCR, Harvick looks for change and to battle for wins again. Harvick will do all he can in the No. 29 next season at RCR and go into 2014 hoping to be more competitive and going for wins at Stewart-Haas Racing.
