Swan Racing, formally Inception Motorsports, looks to make it’s way in NASCAR with new ownership and new personnel in 2013 including Tony Eury Jr. Swan Racing plans to compete in the full season for the first time in the team’s history with David Stremme behind the wheel.

After looking at history and the examples of Hendrick Motorsports or Roush Fenway Racing, it is clear that good people are what makes organizations great. As Swan Racing makes a name for itself, Tony Eury Jr. is one person that may be vital in Swan Racing’s success.

Tony Eury Jr. joins Swan Racing after parting ways with JR Motorsports in 2012. Eury served as Danica Patrick‘s crew chief last season until the team parted ways in September.

Tony Eury’s experience started with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated, now Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, in 1991. While with DEI, Tony Eury Jr. became car chief and tire changer for Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s then Busch series team. At the time, Tony Eury Jr. also worked under his father Tony Eury Sr., gaining knowledge and experience. Eury Jr. then went on to crew chief Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the Sprint Cup series. The younger Eury led the team to a Daytona 500 victory in 2004 and Chase for the Sprint Cup berths in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

But what impact will Tony Eury Jr. have at Swan Racing?

Eury is one of those people that can make a organization great. Eury Jr. has experienced success and knows what it takes to provide results on the race track. He did work for one of the greatest NASCAR drivers ever in Dale Earnhardt Sr. after all.

Swan Racing gained veteran experience with Eury and someone who has worked in NASCAR as new generations of the stock car have come about. That experience will be very beneficial as NASCAR rolls out its new “Generation Six” car in 2013. Eury will have insight into what it takes when learning a new car and what to focus on.

Eury has been through the grind of a NASCAR season. As Swan Racing attempts its first full season, Eury  has knowledge in preparing the whole race team thoughout the entire season and putting resources in place to make sure the cars are fast at each track. Tony will help the team manage its short-term and long-term goals and what the expectations should be as they continue to grow.

Swan Racing made a good move hiring Tony Eury Jr. With his experience of working with some of the greatest in the sport, as well as his knowledge about how to make race cars fast, his team will progress in the right direction.

Swan Racing will be attempting to make all races and finish in the top 25 next season. It’s a manageable goal in the new team’s first season and Tony Eury Jr. has tools to lead them to success on the track..
