NASCAR track presidents make wager for BCS National Championship Game

This year’s BCS National Championship game has ties to two of NASCAR’s biggest tracks and the respective presidents of those tracks are not letting that fact go unnoticed it was announced Tuesday. When The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame take on Alabama’s Crimson Tide on January 7, Chicagoland’s President Scott Paddock and Talladega Superspeedway’s Chairman Grant Lynch will be playing closer attention than some.

The presidents have agreed to have the lose buy lunch for the entire staff of the winning track and will have to pose for a video in the winning team’s colors.

Scott Paddock, who played basketball for Notre Dame, has placed his bet on his Alma Mater, while Grant Lynch will be betting on Alabama – his team’s biggest rival.

Apparently Lynch is a diehard Auburn Tigers fan, so for this bet he’ll be supporting the conference.

If the Tide wins the BCS Championship, Paddock will have to purchase Chicago-style deep dish pizza for the Talladega Superspeedway staff. And if the Fighting Irish pull off a victory, Lynch owes the staff of Chicagoland Speedway Alabama’s famous Dreamland Barbecue.

NASCAR fans take note if you plan to attend the next races at  either Talladega Superspeedway or Chicagoland Speedway because the loser of this bet will find themselves wearing the opponent’s team gear, and the video will be shown on the Sprint Vision screens at the winners next race.  Examiner.com

Danica Patrick on her new Sonic racing game: ‘I shoot balls of flames’

Patrick’s converting vehicle can race against Sonic the Hedgehog

CNN – Even if you know nothing about IndyCar or NASCAR, the odds are you know the name Danica Patrick.

The trailblazing race car driver has been exposed to a global audience through Super Bowl commercials, modeling shoots and other mainstream partnerships. She’s helped IndyCar and NASCAR spread their audiences beyond core racing fans.

That brand awareness hasn’t been lost in the video game space. A few years ago Patrick worked with Activision to promote its racing game, “Blur.” And she is one of the featured drivers in both of Activision’s licensed NASCAR console games.

Now she’s partnered with Sega for its new arcade racing game, “Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.” Gamers can race Patrick’s converting vehicle – it flies, drives and floats – against popular Sega characters like Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails and Dr. Robotnick. Gamers can even put her up against Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph for a virtual race.

Patrick, who was recently named Nationwide’s most popular driver by NASCAR fans, took some time to play the new Sega game and talk about her own gaming background in an exclusive interview for CNN.
