Fish Your Bass Off makes its yearly return to the Irish Hills

MISLogoThe Fish Your Bass Off competition combines the speed of racing with the patience of fishing. And it all goes to benefit MIS Cares, thanks to Michigan International Speedway and Jerry’s Pub.

The Irish Hills is home to NASCAR’s fastest track and countless lakes for fishing. Wamplers Lake provides the setting, only a short distance from Michigan International Speedway, for the fishermen to compete against the best.

The fourth annual Fish Your Bass Off tournament returns to Wamplers Lake on Thursday, Aug. 15. The event will feature NASCAR driver Ryan Newman and the world’s No. 1 ranked bass angler Kevin VanDam against 30 tough teams in a battle to become the Fish Your Bass Off champion.

“I am happy that Fish Your Bass Off is returning for its fourth year,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “It’s a great way to get drivers, anglers and the general public together for a fun event on scenic Wamplers Lake. It’s a fun time where the benefits go to a good cause and help give back to the local community.”

As the largest fundraiser for MIS Cares, Fish Your Bass Off gives fishing enthusiasts the chance to enjoy the weigh-in, silent and live auctions, along with dinner at Jerry’s Pub and Restaurant, located on scenic Wamplers Lake.

The fishing tournament will begin at noon on Thursday and will last until 7 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. with dinner and the silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. The weigh-in, which will be emceed by Newman and VanDam, starts at 7:30 p.m.

One of the major aspects of Fish Your Bass Off is the live auction. The auction will take place at 8:30 p.m. and it is your time to win a variety of great items. The guests will have the opportunity to bid on great packages to meet anybody’s interest. And more items are being compiled daily.

Items for the auction include a 2014 Michigan International ticket package, a Detroit Red Wings practice with player meet and greet included, a lesson at Mach1 Racing Schools, a Kevin VanDam jersey and a Jerry’s Pub package. You can also bid on a Boyne Mountain one-night stay with unlimited golf.

In 2012, the Fish Your Bass Off tournament raised more than $40,000, providing MIS Cares the opportunity to contribute to several community programs in the area.
