Five of the six NASCAR Touring Series in North America will see action this week leading off with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Thursday night for the second consecutive week. Heading into the Budweiser King of Beers 150, points leader Doug Coby holds an eight-point lead over Justin Bonsignore entering the tenth race of the season.

The 2012 Whelen Modified champion, Doug Colby has a win, 21 top-tens and average finish of 12th in 40 career Thompson Speedway starts. He was victorious in the 2011 non-points UNOH Showdown. He also won the non-points UNOH Battle at the Beach this past February and has podium finishes in four races this season, including a win at Stafford in June.

Ranking second in series points is Justin Bonsignore with two wins and a top-five finishes in five races so far this season. His two wins came at the season opener at Thompson Speedway and at Monadnock Speedway. Bonsignore also has six top-tens and an average finish of 15th in just 15 career starts at Thompson Speedway.

Nine of the last 11 Whelen Modified events at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park have featured a different driver in Victory Lane. There are nine drivers on the entry list with previous wins at this track, led by Ted Christopher’s 13 victories. So far in the 2014 season, there have been two first-time winners. Last week Woody Pitkat captured his first career checkered flag. He also won the pole and finished second in the first race at Thompson this year.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West are in action this week with the East drivers making their second visit to a road course in as many weeks. Virginia International Raceway (VIR) hosted their inaugural event last year and welcomes the K&N East drivers back for a second time. Ben Rhodes enters this event with a chance to clinch the 2014 series championship and leads seven NASCAR Next drivers in the field.

Before last year’s race at VIR, the series had not competed on a road course since July 2010 at Lime Rock Park. Saturday’s event is the fourth one held on a road course since 2013.

Points leader, Ben Rhodes finished third in his first road course event at Watkins Glen last weekend. He enters the weekend with a 75-point lead over Cameron Hayley in the standings.

Bryan Ortiz, runner-up finisher in last year’s event, will make his 2014 season début with Rev Racing this weekend.

The K&N West series returns to action at Evergreen Speedway where NASCAR Next driver Dylan Lupton looks to repeat at the track that gave him his first series win last season. Greg Pursley leads the field to the track with a 34-point advantage over second-place Lupton.

While Pursley has built a cushion in the standings, Lupton sits just six points ahead of third-place Brandon McReynolds.

Two previous winners at Evergreen Speedway are in this year’s event – Pursley, who won in 2011, and Lupton who won last year.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 travels East to Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The Wilson Equipment 300 will be race eight of 11 for the series. Points leader L.P. Dumoulin is hot, coming off a win at his home track last weekend and holds a 26-point advantage over J.R. Fitzpatrick.

So far, LP Dumoulin, has yet to log a top-ten finish in three previous appearances. On the other hand, Mark Dilley is the only driver to finish in the top-ten in each of seven series appearances at Riverside. He won 2007’s inaugural event.

JR Fitzpatrick, second in points, has three runner-up finishes at Riverside. He’s led laps in all six of his starts there.

DJ Kennington is the only driver with multiple Riverside victories. He has yet to reach Victory Lane in 2014.

The NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series will make its first of two scheduled stops at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed for the Puebla 240 on Sunday. Daniel Suarez enters the race leading Antonia Pérez by just 16 points heading in to race ten of 15 for the popular series. Suarez also finished second in the most recent race held at the 1.25-mile track.
