Phoenix is Kasey Kahne’s 400th Consecutive Sprint Cup Series Career Start

Similar to his career, Kasey Kahne’s 2015 season has, so far, been a mixed bag of ups and downs.  With the fourth Sprint Cup Series race of the season coming at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, March 15th, Kahne will have his 400th series consecutive, career start in the CampingWorld.com 500 and that is reason for celebration.

In his previous 399 starts, he has an average finish of 17.3 and ranks 21st on the consecutive starts list. Continue reading

XFINITY Series Rookie Ross Chastain Rolls on to Phoenix with Confidence

NASCAR XFINITY Series Rookie of the Year contender Ross Chastain sits in tenth-place in the series point standings as the circuit moves on to Phoenix International Raceway Saturday for the Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200.

In his first three races of the season, Chastain has finishes of ninth, 24th and 18th, and he has reason for confidence as his JD Motorsports team heads to Phoenix.

This will be Chastain’s first XFINITY Series race at Phoenix, but he has solid experience in the Camping World Truck Series at the track. He has raced there twice, and, in 2013, Chastain won the pole and finished second in the Camping World Truck Series event. Continue reading

Brennan Poole Nabs a Top-Ten Finish in NASCAR XFINITY Series Debut

Making his début in Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Brennan Poole came home with his H Scott Motorsports team with a hard-fought top-ten finish.  He started 16th after advancing through qualifying rounds to set up the running order. On Saturday, the highlight of the 200-lap event, were several long green flag runs, meaning there were fewer pit stops and fewer chances to adjust the car. Poole’s early reports were that the car was getting loose with each passing lap.  Past halfway, Poole’s crew made adjustments to the car, changing it from loose to tight. There were only six cautions for 34 laps in the race. Continue reading

Let’s go back to 2013, the fall Richmond race that is usually the last race before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. A race that saw Clint Bowyer spin late to cause a caution benefiting his Michael Waltrip Racing teammate Martin Truex Jr. A race that saw Truex race his way in; and a race that saw Jeff Gordon miss the Chase largely because of that incident. Ultimately, it was a race that started the downward spiral of Martin Truex Jr’s career. Continue reading
