Although his season has had ups and downs, Grant Enfinger is happy with leading the ARCA Racing Series point standings, with GMS Racing. But they’re leaving nothing to chance as he pursues the 2015 championship with just three more races this season. This weekend Enfinger is racing the Federated Car Care Fall Classic 200 at Salem Speedway on September 19th.

After winning at DuQuoin Fairgrounds on Labor Day, Enfinger made his way to Salem Speedway for a full afternoon of testing last Tuesday, September 8th.

“On these one-day shows, you have to unload good,” Enfinger said. “You just don’t have a lot of time to get it right.”

Although, Enfinger won in a composite body at DuQuoin, the team tested a different composite car at Salem in hopes of improving their efforts this weekend.

“This car (that tested at Salem) was a winner at Mobile and Nashville…then we wrecked in the last Salem race,” said Enfinger. “We ve-skinned it with the new composite body…won with it just like it is at Berlin. Really nice car.”

Enfinger says the test at Salem gave his team, lead by crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz, time to try several different options.

“We had a chance to run through some stuff we normally wouldn’t get to do,” Enfinger said.  “Last couple of races there we missed the balance a little bit. We’ve had really good racecars there but it’s easy to miss the set-up.

“We had been talking all year about some of the changes we wanted to try. Some worked…some didn’t. Overall, it was a really good thing we tested. You can mock-up at the shop but nothing can take the place of the real deal. We made some key suspension changes…it was good.”

Fans can see the ARCA Racing practice session on Saturday, September 19th at 12:30 pm ET with their last practice at 1:45 pm ET. Qualifying begins at 4 pm ET with a driver autograph session afterward at 4:45 pm ET. The race begins with the green flag at 7:15 pm ET with ARCARacing.com offering live flag-to-flag audio, as well as timing and scoring of the Federated Car Care Fall Classic 200.
