Since Michael Waltrip Racing announced they were closing their doors back in August, we knew a lot of crew members and other employees would be out of work once the season ended. The organization allowed drivers Clint Bowyer and David Ragan to find rides elsewhere even during the season. So far, Bowyer has signed a one-year deal with HScott Motorsports in 2016 while being the replacement driver in waiting for Tony Stewart in 2017. As of now, Ragan is still looking for a new ride.
There was actually one more driver that was totally forgotten during all the commotion. Brian Vickers was actually the main driver for the Aaron’s No. 55 car coming into his second full-time season and despite issues with blood clots. Vickers had to miss the first two races of 2015 after having heart surgery in late December. Vickers would miss the first two races of 2015, but was able to return the rest of the season. But after only racing in Las Vegas and Phoenix, Vickers was once again sidelined with blood clots.
While being sidelined once again, NBC Sports Network gave Vickers an offer as a guest analyst for the rest of the season. But when the NASCAR season ended after Homestead, there was no timetable set on Vickers’ future now that Michael Waltrip Racing no longer exists. So far it looks like there are no more rides open, and there has been no other updates on his health. It’s most likely a strong possibility he may stay with NBC Sports Network as an analyst. What is most surprising is that Vickers was totally forgotten during this whole phase.
Even Vickers himself hasn’t disclosed his immediate plans. It looks that he is more focused on his health more than anything as he, Arnold Palmer and Kevin Nealon have been spokespeople for Xarelto. It could be that being sidelined with multiple blood clots has already helped him make his decision. I’m sure we’ll know soon enough.
Nobody has forgotten Brian, he is on Race Hub spewing his hypocrisy all the time, jealousy maybe. The events of this year saw his bias in spades. Does he look at himself in the mirror and reflect on HIS driving? It seems not. Pffft. Really Brian? Go away. He does seem to have that big pharma gig to fall back on.
…or whatever telecast that tows the company line…..Brian speaks with forked tongue….
