Dalton Sargeant is our guest on Fan4Racing NASCAR Weekend Preview on Thursday, June 23 at 9:30 pm ET. Call 929-477-1790 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite or @beberly18 with any questions or comments during our LIVE broadcast.
Dalton Sargeant is ready to compete this weekend at Winchester Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Herr’s Potato Chip 200. Sunday’s race will mark the seventh start of the season for Sargeant, who is slated to compete in 15 of the 20 races on the 2016 schedule with Venturini Motorsports.
Sargeant is coming off the worst finish of his rookie campaign, which was still a ninth-place result, two weeks ago at Michigan International Speedway.
The 18-year-old Boca Raton, Fla. native is paired with veteran crew chief Billy Venturini this season and the duo has experienced success from the start. Venturini is no stranger to the ARCA Racing Series as a driver, having recorded one win, 28 top-five and 75 top-ten finishes in 162 starts between 1994 and 2007.
“It’s a blast. I don’t think there is anybody better in the ARCA Racing Series to learn from,” Sargeant said of working with Billy Venturini after finishing third at Salem Speedway in his series debut back in April.
“He’s definitely proven himself time after time and I think just being able to work with him for these 15 races at Venturini Motorsports is really going to improve my driving skills and my talents.”
After Salem, Sargeant recorded finishes of seventh (Talladega), second (Toledo), third (New Jersey Motorsports Park) and fourth (Pocono) prior to earning his sixth consecutive top-ten result at Michigan in the No.55 Toyota Racing Development – Windows 10 Camry.
Unlike tracks like Talladega and Pocono, which were completely new to Sargeant, he heads to Winchester this weekend having competed at the track in the 2014 Winchester 400.
“I’m excited to get back in the seat at Winchester,” said Sargeant, who didn’t have last week’s event at Madison on his 2016 ARCA schedule. “The speed we’ll carry on Winchester’s high banks should make for an exciting show come Sunday. The track really fits my driving style.”
The two-day event weekend at Winchester will feature a pair of practice sessions Saturday afternoon (12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. & 2:20 p.m. – 3:05 p.m.) along with Menards Pole Qualifying at 6:00 p.m. The 200-lap race will be televised live on the American Sports Network (ASN) beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. ARCARacing.com will also feature live timing and scoring and live chat of all on-track activities Saturday and Sunday.
