Sheldon Creed Wins Second Straight General Tire Pole Award

Current ARCA Racing Series presented Menards points leader Sheldon Creed earned his second consecutive General Tire Pole Award after turning the fastest lap in qualifying for tonight’s SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway. Creed also started first in the No. 28 United Rentals Toyota last week en route to victory in the PapaNicholas Coffee 150 at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Creed’s fast lap of 30.648 seconds/176.194 miles per hour edged out his MDM Motorsports teammate Zane Smith, who will share the front row in the No. 41 LaPaz Margarita Mix/ICON Vehicle Dynamics Toyota for tonight’s 100-lap/150 mile race. Michael Self qualified third in the No. 15 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota, with Codie Rohrbaugh in the No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet and Riley Herbst rounded out the top five in the No. 18 NOS/ORCA Coolers Toyota.
Chase Purdy, Gus Dean, Todd Gilliland, Travis Braden and Austin Hill rounded out the top-ten.
The 20-minute timed session was incident free on the race track, but two drivers collided on pit road as they made their way onto the speedway for their timed laps. Toni Breidinger had slight damage to the left side of the No. 15 Tork/Nortown Automotive Toyota, while Will Rodgers had moderate damage to the right side of the No. 52 Drydene Ford.
The SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway is slated for a 9 pm ET start and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1. ARCARacing.com will have live timing and scoring throughout the race for registered users.
