Tyler Dippel and Tyler Ankrum lead final practice at Iowa Speedway
DGR Crosley takes first and second in the last NASCAR K&N Pro Series practice session of the day at Iowa Speedway on Friday afternoon, making them favorites heading into the Casey’s General Store 150 at 7:30 pm ET tonight.
After finishing third in the first practice session, Dippel is happy taking first in this session but says there’s still a bit more fine-tuning to do before the race begins.
“I feel good about it,” says Dippel about leading the last practice session. “Our car is fast in qualifying trim and I feel like it needs to be a tiny bit better in race trim. Our guys brought another fast race car again and I’m pretty happy with it. I think we just need a tiny bit more in race trim, but we’re definitely a top-three car right now. We just need to fine tune it a little bit more.”
After finishing first in the earlier practice, Ankrum is also happy with his second-place finish in this session.
“Being here for the first time, it was awesome,” says Ankrum. “Being first in the first practice and second in the second practice, it goes to show how good we are both in qualifying and long runs. We didn’t mock up the first practice, but the second practice we did. We’re really fast both on new tires and old so I’m really excited who gets qualifying and who gets the race.”
Kyle Benjamin who was second in the first practice finished third, followed by Hailie Deegan and her teammate Cole Rouse rounding out the top-five finishers.
Rounding out the top-ten are Spencer Davis, Ruben Garcia Jr, Derek Kraus, Derek Thorn and Ryan Vargas.
The qualifying session for the Casey’s General Store 150 begins at 6 pm ET at Iowa Speedway, with the race starting at 8:30 pm ET. Follow the action at NASCAR Hometracks – Race Central.
