Sam Mayer Uses Late Surge to Win at New Smyrna

New year, new series, same Sam.

In his first race as defending ARCA Menards Series East champion, Sam Mayer used a late pass on Ty Gibbs to win the Skip’s Western Outfitters 175 at New Smyrna Speedway.

It’s Mayer’s fifth career series win and comes one year after his fourth-place finish in the 2019 season opener.

Erik Jones Wins the Busch Clash with Help from Denny Hamlin

Speedweeks has officially kicked off for the NASCAR Cup Series with the 2020 Daytona 500 qualifying, and the Busch Clash. 18 drivers made up the field by either winning a pole in the previous season, making the playoffs in the previous season, or winning the Daytona 500 at some point in their career. All three Team Penske drivers, all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers, and all four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers were part of the field and heavily favorited.

Jimmie Johnson Runs Half-Marathon before Daytona 500 Qualifying

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jimmie Johnson ran three times on Sunday, but only two of the occasions involved his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

Before Daytona 500 time trials, which started at 12:30 p.m., Johnson ran the Daytona Beach Half-Marathon, which starts on the tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway and ends 13.1 miles later after a run to the sands of Daytona Beach.
