Drew Dollar’s first win in the General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway continues Venturini Motorsports dominance this season with three victories in three races.

The most exciting part of the ARCA Menards Series General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway was the last two laps. In the end, it was Drew Dollar’s No. 15 Venturini Motorsports Toyota taking the checkered flag for the rookie’s first win in the series. The victory was an emotional celebration for Dollar.

“I definitely needed this one. I’m definitely out of breath right now,” Dollar said. “Venturini guys gave me the car out here today. Had the best team, had the best spotter in the stand (pit box) in Joe White. He guided me through it. 

“I lost a family member over the break so this is definitely emotional. This one’s for him. I know he’s watching from up above.”

Drew Dollar’s first win was also his second top-five of the 2020 season as he rebounds from a 14th place finish at Phoenix in March. He edged his Venturini teammate Ryan Repko by 0.115 seconds, earning his first series win in just his fifth series start.

Venturini Motorsports is Three-for-Three in 2020.

With Dollar’s victory, Venturini Motorsports has swept each event so far this season. Michael Self won Daytona in February and teenage sensation Chandler Smith earned the win at Phoenix Raceway, 107 days ago. The Talladega race marks the return of the ARCA Menards Series since the COVID 19 break started after the Phoenix race on March 6th.

The Last Two Laps

The last two laps of Saturday’s General Tire 200 were the most exciting with three Venturini cars inside the top-five in the closing laps.

All three Venturini drivers were looking for strength in numbers while challenging for the lead. From the outside lane, Michael Self made contact with the leader Riley Herbst. Amazingly, both drivers were able to save their race cars without any notable damage. Drew Dollar was in the right place, at the right time, and with some quick thinking, was able to take advantage of the situation and race his No. 15 to the lead, then to the checkered flag for the win.

Behind Dollar, Venturini Motorsports teammate Ryan Repko finished second, Alabama’s Bret Holmes took third, followed by Herbst and Self.

Thad Moffitt finished sixth then Hailie Deegan, Jason Kitzmiller, Sean Corr, and Ed Pompa completed the top-ten. Only 15 of the 21 cars finished the race, with just seven on the lead lap.
