Love and Perkins find victory in the ARCA Menards Series West ENOES/Sunrise Ford Twins at Utah Motorsports Campus on Saturday.
Jesse Love with Bill McAnally Racing and Blaine Perkins with Sunrise Ford gave dominating performances in the ARCA Menards Series West with doubleheader victories at Utah Motorsports Campus.
The ENEOS/Sunrise Ford Twins presented by West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame delivered first-time winners in both events. Love in the No. 9 for BMR raced past Perkins in an early race restart on his way to winning the first 30-lap event. Perkins went on to pace the field for the entire 30 laps of the second race in his No. 9 Sunrise Ford.
Race One Results | Race Two Results
In qualifying, Perkins secured his first two ARCA West General Tire Pole Awards on the 2.2-mile road course in Utah. Although Love qualified third, he quickly put pressure on Perkins early in the race. The Menlo Park Californian, at just 15 years old, was able to race his way around Perkins on a lap 8 restart from the outside groove to take the lead.
Unfortunately for Perkins, he went off course late in the race, opening the door for Kris Wright to take the runner up spot. Wright, an experienced road course racer, finished 1.154 seconds behind Love in his ARCA Menards debut.
Race One Top-Ten
Love’s BMR teammate Gio Scelzi finished third, with Taylor Gray and Will Rodgers rounding out the top-five. Rounding out the top-ten are Todd Souza, Gracie Trotter, Brian Kaminsky, Holley Hollan, and Bobby Hillis Jr.
Race Two Top-Ten
In the second event, Wright finished third behind second-place Love. Scelzi and Trevor Huddleston who rebounded from issues in race one finished fourth and fifth. Rounding out the top- ten are Souza, Trotter, Rodgers, Kaminsky, and Hollan.
Love now has a nine-point advantage over Perkins in the series point standings. Scelzi is 18 points behind the leader in third and just one point ahead of fourth-place Trotter who is two points in front of Souza in fifth.
