Tyler Reddick takes the checkered flag at Road America for his first NASCAR Cup Series victory in the Kwik Trip 250 on Sunday afternoon.
Over the fourth of July weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series heads into Wisconsin for another road course race. NASCAR’s top drivers went 62 laps around the historic road course that is Road America. A long four-mile road course that takes the field down long straight-aways, through tight corners, and around a carousel before coming back up the hill to the start-finish line. It is a fun road course that often has action around every corner.
Chase Elliott on the Pole at Road America
Chase Elliott has been the one to beat at road courses. He started off Sunday’s race in the top spot. After jumping into the lead, he took control of the opening stage of the race. The opening stage of the race ran green for its entirety.
With two laps remaining in the race, many drivers came down pit road. Chase Elliott surrendered the lead to Chase Briscoe. Briscoe stayed out to take the lead and win the first stage.
Chase Elliott Returns to the Lead
Chase Elliott returned to the lead once more as the next segment got underway. Six laps into the stage Joey Logano and Bubba Wallace made contact with one another causing both to spin out.
The race continued under the green flag with Elliott at the helm. Once more the second segment ran without incident and the field began making its way onto pit road with two laps remaining.
Ryan Blaney took over as race leader to win the second stage.
Chase Elliott Continues to Dominate in the Lead
The final segment of the race kicked off with thirty laps remaining. Chase Elliott continued to dominate the rest of the field leading the opening thirteen laps. He was followed closely by Tyler Reddick. Reddick was waiting for his opportunity to strike.
