Greg Van Alst Scores a Big One for the Underdogs at Daytona

Greg Van Alst scores a big one for the underdogs at Daytona International Speedway in the ARCA Menards Series ARCA 200 on Saturday afternoon.

A name that has long been associated with short-track racing is Greg Van Alst.

With a resume that includes a championship in the CRA Super Series title in 2019, that accomplishment enabled Van Alst to participate in the Road to Daytona program before starting his ARCA Menards Series team two years later with the goal of representing short-track veterans on a larger stage.

Zane Smith wins his second straight NASCAR Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway in the NextEra Energy 250 on Friday night.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — On the fifth try, the rain finally got the better of Daytona International Speedway—and that was perfectly all right with reigning NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series champion Zane Smith. NASCAR called Friday night’s NextEra Energy 250 after 79 of a scheduled 100 laps, making Smith the winner when the fifth rain shower of the evening thwarted track-drying efforts.
