Front Row Motorsports is living up to its name in 2024 of the NASCAR Cup Series season at Daytona and Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The first two points-paying races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season have started with the same front row. The Daytona 500 kicked off with Joey Logano on the pole in the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford for Team Penske. Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell in the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stop Ford started from the second-place spot on the front row.
Front Row Motorsports is Living Up to its Name in 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Season
Coming to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the second race of the season, McDowell was able to flip the script. McDowell put his Benebonne-sponsored machine in the top spot as the pole sitter. This is McDowell’s first career pole at the NASCAR Cup Series level in 467 starts. Logano is in second place on the front row this weekend. Another Front Row Motorsports accomplishment is the No. 38 driven by Todd Gilliland, who qualified fourth at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
While the team has four wins at NASCAR’s top level of competition, including the 2021 Daytona 500 with McDowell, they have also made the playoffs in two of the last three seasons. The team is looking to improve their best season points rank at 15th place.
A Promotion for Front Row Motorsports Leads to Team Penske Collaboration.
With such a solid start, team confidence in their 2024 goals is high. Their lofty expectations are lifted by the recent promotion of Front Row Motorsports to a Ford Tier 1 program. That promotion comes with a new collaboration with Team Penske. Their collaboration will include a full range of engineering and aerodynamics, race setups, strategies, and other projects. Coincidentally, Logano drives for Team Penske as does the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney.
Front Row Motorsports is a Team to Watch in 2024
Keep an eye on the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team this season. September may be a good time to check if they are still living up to their name, Front Row Motorsports. Perhaps this is the year Michael McDowell and his No. 34 team might even exceed their goals.
