The cups series returns to the ‘Irish Hills’ of Michigan for the second time this season. In June, the race was shortened due to rain and Clint Bowyer was able to take the crown. Watkins Glen is the second road course on the circuit and it never disappoints. This track requires racers to be solid on breaks and have smooth transitions into the throttle when winding through this tricky track. In years past, the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Motor Speedway has been a challenge for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series. The banking in turns three and four is different than the banking in turns one and two. The long sweeping turns of this track, along with the differences in banking can really shake a drivers confidence. However, the race on Saturday night told a different story. Continue reading →
After the break, the Cup Series headed out west to race at the road course of Sonoma Raceway. It’s a well-deserved switch up halfway through the season for drivers to get a taste for a different style of racing.
