Five Star Race Car Bodies, a division of Five Star Fabricating, Inc. was formed by Fran Prestay and Carl Schultz in the late 1970s in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. It began as a side job for the two in response to a need for innovative sheet metal products in the stock car racing industry. Fran owned an auto service shop across from Carl’s local plumbing and heating business, and after a rough night at the local short track, Fran asked Carl to produce a set of sheet metal fenders for his car since finding stock parts in the salvage yard was difficult and time-consuming. Over 60 drivers entered the inaugural SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway.When qualifying was complete, 36 drivers went on to compete on Sunday, March 1st – after rain postponed activities from Saturday. And only one picked up the checkered flag after crossing the finish line first – Bubba Pollard, the 2014 Southern Super Series Champion. Continue reading

The management team of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series proudly presents the “Winter Showdown 250” for Tour Cars and Super Late Models at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California, February 27 and 28. The race also features a 75-lap event for the Lucas Oil Modifieds on Saturday.

The nationally televised on MAVTV, “Winter Showdown” will be one of the richest asphalt short track events in the nation, with over $150,000.00 in prize money, and a record $25,000.00 payday to the winner of the Winter Showdown 250. Continue reading

Bob Bruncati, one of the most successful team owners in the K&N Pro Series West with his Sunrise Ford Racing team and rookie Ryan Partridge is one of two drivers on the Brucati team for the 2015 season.

Although Partridge, 26, is a rookie to the K&N Pro Series West, he’s no stranger to racing. His grandfather, Bernie Partridge, is a legendary announcer for the NHRA and his father is also heavily involved in racing. So it seems more than fitting that Ryan Partridge would find a love in the sport as well. After seeing his older brother compete in Quarter Midgets, Ryan Partridge became enthralled with the sport and wasted no time getting out on the track himself. The Rancho Cucamonga, California, native has dominated the Southern California racing scene for years, with Irwindale being one of his most successful tracks. Continue reading
