Two weeks ago in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Alex Tagliani got turned out of the lead by Regan Smith and lost his shot at a win. Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Tagliani passed up his chance as the one doing the turning.

Heading into turn 5B on the last lap, Tagliani says he was in a position to push Erik Jones aside and claim victory for himself. But he didn’t. Instead, Tagliani held back as Jones cruised to his second win of the season and vaulted to the top of the series point standings. Continue reading

Will Brendan Gaughan defy the history of five different winners in five races at Road America this weekend to become first NASCAR XFINITY Series driver with back-to-back wins?

There is plenty of evidence that says Gaughan’s chances of winning the Road America 180 Fired Up by Johnsonville are in his favor with the state of Wisconsin becoming his ‘happy place.’

As the 2014 defending winner, Gaughan has some impressive victories in the state, making him the envy of the series drivers racing at Road America this weekend. For the 14th race of the Camping World Truck Series season, the drivers get down to business at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Chevrolet Silverado 250. It is their only road course of the season. This world-class racetrack opened in 1961, with a win by Sir Sterling Moss – this is how corners 5A and 5B got their name – and has had no fewer than 16 formula 1 champions and ten Indy 500 winners that have graced the corners. Greats such as: A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, Jackie Stewart and even ‘The King’ Richard Petty.

The track, a 2.459 mile, ten-turn asphalt road course has been host to: formula 1, IndyCar, United SportsCar and NASCAR.  2015 will be the Camping World Truck Series’ third visit to the track, which is one of the world’s fastest road courses. The inaugural race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was in 2013, becoming the first time in 13 years the series has raced on a road course. Continue reading
