Greg Pursley put the stop to David Mayhew’s K&N West domination with a victory in the Armed Forces 150 at Kern County Raceway Park. Pursley and Mayhew had to slow down to avoid the No. 18 car of Bill Kann, who got going again after spinning out. The Stockton 150 was a battle between two seasoned drivers in K&N West: David Mayhew and Greg Pursley. Mayhew held off many charges from Pursley to claim his first win since Phoenix in March 2012.
The California native got off to a good start by winning the pole for the race. The 2011 champ Pursley qualified in third. Mayhew led the first ten laps, before being passed by Pursley. Both drivers wouldn’t leave each other view throughout the night. Continue reading →
Gaulding Grabs Record-Setting Phoenix Victory
Gray Gaulding won the Casino Arizona 50 on Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway, while Derek Thorn was celebrating the series championship.
From Lakeport, CA, Thorn earned his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Championship with a 15th-place finish – enough to hold off a trio of strong contenders. Cameron Hayley snagged second place by a mere six points, with 2011 series champion Greg Pursley in third (-16) and Michael Self taking fourth (-24).
