The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will make its second visit to Kern County Raceway Park on Saturday, August 30th for the Bakersfield 150 presented by GPS. Points leader Greg Pursley won the spring race from the pole and returns to the track with a 25-point advantage over second-place NASCAR Next driver Dylan Lupton. Pursley also won the inaugural event at Kern County last year.

Rookie James Bickford made a late-race pass on Greg Pursley to win his first career K&N West race in Idaho.

Pursley Goes Two-for-Two at Kern County Raceway Park

Greg Pursley put the stop to David Mayhew’s K&N West domination with a victory in the Armed Forces 150 at Kern County Raceway Park. Pursley and Mayhew had to slow down to avoid the No. 18 car of Bill Kann, who got going again after spinning out.  NASCAR didn’t throw the caution as the No. 26 car went low and Mayhew went high as Pursley came out with the lead for the last time. Mayhew Returns to Victory Lane in K&N West at Stockton

The Stockton 150 was a battle between two seasoned drivers in K&N West: David Mayhew and Greg Pursley. Mayhew held off many charges from Pursley to claim his first win since Phoenix in March 2012.

The California native got off to a good start by winning the pole for the race. The 2011 champ Pursley qualified in third. Mayhew led the first ten laps, before being passed by Pursley. Both drivers wouldn’t leave each other view throughout the night. Continue reading

Thorn Celebrates First K&N Pro Series West Championship

Gaulding Grabs Record-Setting Phoenix Victory

Gray Gaulding won the Casino Arizona 50 on Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway, while Derek Thorn was celebrating the series championship.

From Lakeport, CA, Thorn earned his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Championship with a 15th-place finish – enough to hold off a trio of strong contenders. Cameron Hayley snagged second place by a mere six points, with 2011 series champion Greg Pursley in third (-16) and Michael Self taking fourth (-24).  Anyone watching the series knows there has been a hot contest in the west with these four contenders exchanging the lead throughout the season.  Continue reading
