As 13 successful years with Richard Childress Racing comes to a close for Kevin Harvick, he potentially earned one last win with the team on Sunday. It was his second straight victory in the November Phoenix event and once again on Sunday, the win came with a dramatic turn of events. Once again during Saturday afternoon’s Nationwide Series race at Texas, it was the No.22 car in victory lane. One of the most dominating seasons continues for the Penske Racing entry. This victory is the No.22 car’s twelfth on the year and Keselowski’s sixth. The owner’s championship is very much within reach for this team and this race solidified that point.
A Penske parade was up front early when Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Alex Bowman on lap five and then Keselowski passed Hornish Jr. one lap later. After the Penske stint up front, Joe Gibbs Racing held the top positions for mostly the mid-part of the race. Continue reading →
No one has done it since 1982; that is until this past weekend. Sweeping both Daytona races in the same season, Jimmie Johnson broke a 30-year dry spell Saturday night with his win in the Coke Zero 400. Johnson was up front all night and held off his competitors each time they challenged him for the lead. The race was classic Daytona with carnage and nail-biting racing throughout the evening. Restrictor-plate racing doesn’t get any better and this race proved Daytona night racing is fun to watch.
Lap 32 was when Johnson found the front for the first time of the night and he wouldn’t be away from that spot for much more of the race. Continue reading →
Jimmie Johnson crossed the finish line first Sunday afternoon after he put on a dominate performance resulting with the No.48 car in victory lane. No one was close to contending with the five-time champion today, allowing him to score his third victory of the season. Johnson is off to an absolute sizzling start this season, heading into the summer, and he will be looking to stay hot.
The race started out with Carl Edwards taking the lead from pole-sitter Johnson on lap one, but by lap ten, it was Johnson back to the top spot. After a debris caution, Ryan Newman stayed out to take the lead on the restart, but Johnson was able to quickly regain the lead. Newman and Johnson swapped for the lead again, but Johnson took full control for the rest of the race, with 47 laps remaining. Continue reading →
