Thanks to the unintentional generosity of the dominant driver in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, opportunistic Brad Keselowski won the second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race of the season.
Kevin Harvick led 292 of the 325 laps at the 1.54-mile track, but a pit road speeding penalty under caution on lap 311 sent him to the back of the field for the final restart.
That gave Keselowski the chance he needed, and on lap 319 he surged past Kyle Larson for the top spot and pulled away to win by 0.564 seconds. Continue reading →

With multiple drivers in winning race cars and a couple of late restarts, the Folds of Honor 500 was a success in terms of what you would like out of any Sprint Cup Series race, but as I sat there watching Sunday afternoon, I couldn’t help but think, what is up with Tony Stewart?
Stewart ended up 30th Sunday after being involved in a late race crash, but what caught my attention was how he was running before the end of the race. Throughout the race I saw Tony running from 25th to 30th and struggling to move forward. Coors Light Polesitter Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick dominated the early and middle stages of Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway—before Jimmie Johnson decided to crash the party.
Johnson didn’t take the lead in the second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season until Lap 198 of 325, but from then on, his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet was the class of the field, leading six times for 92 laps in winning for the fourth time at Atlanta and for the 71st time in his career.
