Last week, Ben Rhodes threw out the first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinals game, as part of a media advance to promote the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Drivin’ for Lineman 200 brought to you by Altec. This week, is the first time he’ll race 160 laps at Gateway Motorsports Park in his first full season with ThorSport Racing.

After eight of 23 races, Rhodes is now third in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings. And although much of this season is all new for the NASCAR Next alumnus, in his track series’ debut at Iowa Speedway last weekend, Rhodes started tenth, raced consistently inside the top-five, even challenging for the race lead, and in the end finished fourth. That top-five showing was Rhodes’ Truck Series career best finish. The K&N Pro Series East champion knows what it takes to win and is anxious, yet patient for his first Camping World Truck Series victory with his No. 41 team. Continue reading

Truck Series Set to Run 500th Race

311888The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will run its 500th race this weekend – Saturday’s UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Camping World Truck Series began in 1995 and is in its 21st season of operation. Ron Hornaday Jr. has won the most Camping World Truck Series championships with four and 51 races. Mike Skinner earned the first series titles driving for legendary owner Richard Childress. Throughout its existence, many NASCAR stars have started their careers in the Camping World Truck Series, including Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Challengers Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Jamie McMurray and Brad Keselowski. Late Race Accident Spoils Dominate Race for Erik Jones at Gateway

After starting from the pole for Saturday night’s Drivin’ for Linemen 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Gateway Motorsports Park, Erik Jones led a race-high 84 laps, but once again experienced misfortunes late in the race, spoiling his effort to collect that elusive first win of the season. Jones was in the runner-up position, chasing down race-leader Matt Crafton, with just under 20 laps remaining when contact with a lap truck resulted in terminal damage to his Special Olympics World Games Tundra and relegated him to a 23rd-place finish.
