Kobalt 400 to Feature Newly Introduced Aerodynamic and Chassis Changes

 

Forty-eight drivers from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series turned laps at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Thursday to further build upon the 2014 intermediate-track rules package that was formalized late last year.

Serving as the first official NASCAR test with the new 2014 rules package in place, today’s four-hour session allowed teams to prepare for Sunday’s Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway – the series’ first visit to a 1.5-mile track in 2014 – and beyond.  Continue reading →

Jimmie Johnson and his No. 48 team started off the 2006 season amidst controversy.  NASCAR found an illegally adjusted rear window in the car that created an aerodynamic advantage after Daytona 500 qualifying. Chad Knaus, Johnson’s crew chief, was suspended for the first four races and fined $25,000. Chief engineer Darian Grubb took the helm in his absence. Johnson went on to win his first Daytona 500, even though many people questioned the integrity of the win. Throwback Thursday – Busch Series Heads West for the First Time

Seven years after first driving in a NASCAR major series, Jeff Green picks up his first NASCAR Nationwide Series victory – 1997  In 2000, Green had one of his most dominant years with 25 top-fives and won the Busch championship by over 600 points. 2001 marked the third consecutive season, Jeff Green finishes in at least second place in the Nationwide (Busch) Series, one of the best stretches in circuit history.

During the first 15 years of its existence, the NASCAR Busch Series never made a stop to a track west of the Mississippi River.
