600 Miles of Remembrance at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Windshield Tribute Part of NASCAR: An American Salute at Coca-Cola 600

Continuing the sport’s long-standing tradition of honoring the United States Armed Forces, all 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will bear the name of a fallen service member on their race car windshields during Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (6 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), NASCAR announced today.

For the second consecutive year, “600 Miles of Remembrance” will pay tribute this Memorial Day Weekend to those who bravely served and died defending our country. Windshield headers normally reserved for drivers’ last names will read “SGT HARVEY,” “LCPL RAMIREZ,” and “SPC BEAUDOIN,” among other names of the fallen.  Continue reading

Beginning with the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and culminating with the Independence Day Weekend’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, this year’s campaign aspires to reach one million “salutes” to U.S. military members during the next six weeks.  Continue reading

Charlotte Motor Speedway is joining with business leaders from around the country to honor some 10,000 active military and family members before the green flag drops on NASCAR’s ultimate test of man and machine, the May 26 Coca-Cola 600, as part of a Memorial Day weekend saluting the U.S. Armed Forces. The day of tribute will feature a special celebration luncheon hosted by John Schnatter, founder, chairman and CEO of Papa John’s International, where more than 3,000 pizzas will be served to the military guests. A United States senator, a lieutenant governor and a military hero will lead race fans in the commencement of the nation’s largest Memorial Day celebration as they serve as race officials for the 2013 Coca-Cola 600. Sgt. Aaron Causey will be Grand Marshal; U.S. Sen. Tim Scott will serve as Honorary Starter and Tennessee’s Lt. Gov.
