One year ago, Top Fuel rookie Richie Crampton was a crew member for Morgan Lucas Racing that thought he was living the dream when he was asked to fill in and test a dragster for MLR driver Brandon Berstein. Top Fuel newcomer Richie Crampton gave his Rookie of the Year bid a giant boost Sunday by winning the 45th annual Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Crampton beat points leader Doug Kalitta in a thrilling last round, 3.819 to 3.848, becoming just the second Australian-born pro winner in NHRA history. Continue reading

GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster driver Richie Crampton experienced the highs and lows of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing during the Circle K NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.

The rookie savored a first-round victory over Brittany Force that was his first professional win but then suffered a second-round defeat to No. 1 qualifier Doug Kalitta.

Still, Crampton knows it’s early in his rookie year and believes Pomona was a good start to his career. Continue reading
