Future Stars Unveiled During NASCAR Next Announcement

Three Different Countries Represented in 2016-17 Class

Two are following in the footsteps of their former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driving fathers. One is a long-time racer who competed on the reality television show “Survivor,” and later added a degree from Stanford University. Another is one of the fastest rising stock car drivers in the Midwest. There is even a pair of international phenoms.

From Charlotte to New York City, and from Quebec to Israel, the 11 drivers who were announced as the 2016-17 NASCAR Next class today are primed for a successful and impactful future in NASCAR. Erik Jones Dashes to Second XFINITY Series Win

NASCAR’s new Dash 4 Cash format agrees with Erik Jones – even when his No. 20 Toyota is running on older tires.

Despite staying out on used rubber for a restart with five laps left in Saturday’s Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200 at Dover International Speedway, Jones pulled away to beat runner-up Darrell Wallace Jr. to the finish line by 1.434 seconds.

The victory was Jones second of the year, both on concrete tracks (Bristol and Dover). He has now won two of the three NASCAR XFINITY Series races held under the new Dash 4 Cash format, which features two heat races and a main event.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams are preparing for 200 miles of racing action over 200 laps of the JACOB Companies 200 at Dover International Speedway tonight, May 13th.  FOX Sports 1 starts their pre-race coverage at 5 pm ET with a green flag around 5:30 pm ET and radio coverage is on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

 

Will. I. Am.: Byron Gets it Started with First Career Win

William Byron had a ‘good night’ last Friday.

The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver captured his first win in only his fifth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start. Byron, who led the first 33 laps of his career earlier in the race, retook the point on the last go-around of NASCAR Overtime to take the victory that virtually guarantees him a spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase. William Byron Gets First Truck Series Win in Wild Kansas Race

William Byron remembers watching NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races when he was six years old.

Now 18, Byron has a win in the series he watched as a child. But it took a strong truck and a stroke of good luck for Byron to win Friday night’s Toyota Tundra 250 and reach Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway for the first time in five series starts.

Driving the No. 9 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports, Byron was third when frontrunner Johnny Sauter led Ben Rhodes into turn three on the last lap of overtime. Continue reading →

CWTS-NNNASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams head to Kansas Speedway next week for the Toyota Tundra 250. Competitors will race 167 laps for 250.5 miles of action on Friday, May 6th with television coverage on FOX Sports 1 beginning at 8 pm ET and a green flag around 8:30 pm ET. Radio coverage is on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

One More Weekend Until NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Returns

Kansas was a dramatic race last season. Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick and Daniel Suárez all ran out of fuel while in the lead, and Matt Crafton saved enough in the tank to pass them for the victory.

Crafton is the only full-time Truck Series driver with a win at Kansas. Johnny Sauter (third), Timothy Peters (fourth), Cameron Hayley (fifth) and Daniel Hemric (tenth) all finished in the top-ten in last season’s race.  Continue reading →
