William Sawalich wins at Toledo Speedway; Andres Perez wins the ARCA Menards Series title on Saturday evening in the Owens Corning 200.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Oct. 5, 2024, was going to be Andres Perez’s day no matter how the Owens Corning 200 played out. The 19-year-old Rev Racing driver became the first Mexican-born ARCA Menards Series champion when he showed up to race Saturday at Toledo Speedway.

The race itself, though, belonged to William Sawalich.

Andres Perez and Lavar Scott make ARCA Menards Series history at Toledo Speedway on Saturday afternoon for their Rev Racing teams.

TOLEDO, Oh. – History was made on Saturday as Andres Perez (No. 2 Max Siegel Inc. Chevrolet) became the first foreign-born champion in the 72-season history of the ARCA Menards Series. Perez, from Mexico City, won the title with an incredibly consistent season, scoring ten top-five finishes, including a trio of runner-up finishes, and 17 top-ten finishes in 20 starts.
