ARCA Racing Series announces 2014 Schedule

download (1)The 20-race, 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule is complete, say series officials.

The 2014 season – the 62nd in series history – starts with the 51s ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway with the annual Speed Weeks race on Saturday, Feb 15, and ends with its championship weekend at Kansas Speeday, Friday, October 3. In between, the series will visit historic short tracks, two dirt mile tracks in Illinois and New Jersey Motorsports Park, meaning ARCA will once again showcase its diversity by racing on superspeedway and short paved ovals, dirt and road courses. Penalized For Violation At Pocono Raceway

Penalties have been levied to the No. 17 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team following last Saturday’s race at Pocono Raceway.

The No. 17 truck was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to the NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20B of the NASCAR rule book); and 20B-12.8.1A (the roof failed to meet the minimum height requirement during post-race inspection) of the 2013 rule book.

As a result of this violation, crew chief Butch Hylton has been fined $5,000. The team has also been docked six championship driver (Timothy Peters) points and six championship truck owner (Tom DeLoach) points.

Kahne Caps Off Dominant Pocono Run with a Victory

Kasey Kahne made Team Hendrick proud on Sunday at Pocono after he took the win in a day they totally dominated. A wild afternoon started with pole-sitter Jimmie Johnson leading, but when he ran into trouble just shy of the mid-point of the race, Kahne rose to the top spot. Then when a late caution sprung a dash for the win, it was Jeff Gordon taking over the lead but he was passed on another late restart by Kahne. It was a decent day for Hendrick teams to say the least and they’ll be sipping the champagne tonight. Continue reading

Ryan Blaney and his father, NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney, discussed one particular point of emphasis before Saturday’s Pocono Mountains 125 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Pocono Raceway.

“We actually talked about restarts and choosing the right line,” said 19-year-old Ryan, who grabbed the lead from rookie German Quiroga on a restart that began the second attempt at a green-white-checkered-flag finish and held on to win the fourth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race stage at the 2.5-mile triangular track.

“It was pretty funny that we were talking about restarts before the race, and that’s what it came down to.” Continue reading
