The close of last season, led to the end of a chapter at Richard Childress Racing. Their top driver for over a decade in Kevin Harvick was moving on. Following Dale Earnhardt’s death, Harvick was the face of RCR. Now that the face of the organization has left, it is time for a new beginning. Richard Childress Racing announced today that Ryan Newman will drive the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starting in 2014. Newman is 35, and a 17-time Sprint Cup race winner with 50 pole awards. He is also a 2008 Daytona 500 winner and 2013 Brickyard 400 champion. Continue reading →

Summer time – it’s the time in the season when everybody officially makes plans for the 2014 season. And Friday, Kevin Harvick made it official that he will be joining Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) next season. Budweiser, Harvick’s current sponsor, also announced, they will follow Harvick and continue to sponsor him at SHR. Rookie Jeb Burton added another chapter to his family’s racing history Friday night when he won the 17th annual WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Burton, the 20-year-old son of 2002 Daytona 500 champion Ward Burton, posted his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at the expense of Ty Dillon, grandson of NASCAR championship team-owner Richard Childress. Burton is the first winner among the 13 drivers comprising NASCAR Next, an initiative to spotlight the sanctioning body’s rising stars. Continue reading →
