NASCAR will be twisting and turning into beautiful wine country in Sonoma this weekend for some road racing, which always happens to feature some road rage. Drivers are amped up for these races and they know that to win, they need to have a perfect day. Any driver can have that perfect race and last year’s winner, Clint Bowyer, is the perfect example. Last June when the Sprint Cup Series was at Michigan, a long winless streak was broken by NASCAR’s most popular driver. Junior Nation rejoiced as Dale Earnhardt Jr. pulled into victory lane to celebrate his first Cup win since 2008. It was a day that Earnhardt Jr. and his fans won’t soon forget, but they are also hoping they can get to victory lane again sometime soon. Earnhardt Jr. showed his strength on the freshly repaved Michigan and that could give him a leg-up for this weekend. NASCAR Announces New Sprint Cup Road-Course Qualifying Procedure

NASCAR announced today that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will implement the group-based road course qualifying procedure used in NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Touring Series competition during its road-course events at Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International. Under the new procedure, cars will qualify in groups instead of the traditional single-car qualifying runs held on oval race tracks.  Continue reading
