Ryan Truex Gaining Momentum in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

On occasion, a great story sneaks up and seemingly it suddenly comes to light, leaving some wondering how did that happen? The story behind Ryan Truex this season is that kind of story. Last January, Ryan Truex wasn’t sure if he’d be racing this season, and now he’s third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series contending for the series’ championship title. Racing with Hattori Racing Enterprises in the No. 81, Truex was able to hook up with the team just in time for the season opener at Daytona in February.  Continue reading

Throwback Thursday: A Dover Race Lost Because of a Lug Nut

The Motorcraft/Quick Lane team, with rookie driver Ryan Blaney now at the wheel, will be back on the track at Dover International Speedway this weekend for the first time since 2008, when the team cut back to a partial Sprint Cup schedule.

For the Wood Brothers, it’s a return to one of the tracks where they had great success in years past.

The Woods won seven times at Dover over the years, beginning with their first trip there in the fall of 1972.

David Pearson led 350 of that race’s 500 laps to win by three laps over second-place Richard Petty. Pearson swept the Dover races in 1973, beating Cale Yarborough in the spring and Bobby Allison in the fall.

Pearson won two more, in the spring of 1975 and the spring of 1978. Continue reading

Dover Extends SAFER Barriers and Increases Stall Space on Pit Road

Dover International Speedway extends SAFER barriers along backstretch, into turn three entrance; increases stall space on pit road

Dover International Speedway has completed two projects that extend SAFER barriers by almost 500 feet along the backstretch and into the entrance of turn three and expand the pit stalls along pit road by two feet each. The work comes before the Monster Mile’s latest NASCAR tripleheader weekend on May 13-15. New asphalt has also been added along the area behind pit road, from the entrance of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage down to the Start-Finish line. Continue reading
