NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Tony Stewart is gearing up for his last season, after announcing his retirement, late last year. Stewart has said he’d love to return to his roots and race again on dirt after the 2016 season is complete. Although it will be interesting to see how Stewart does with the new downforce package this year, many are wondering how Stewart’s last season in the Cup series will unfold. Will he go out on a high or will he continue as he has the last couple of seasons and run middle of the pack?

The story of how this season will end for Stewart has several more months to play out. But unfolding over the weekend is how Stewart’s season will begin. Most likely Stewart will once again be bombarded by media wanting to get his perspective on the incident at the Chili Bowl Nationals with a fan in the stands. Here was hoping that the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season would start positive. Kyle Busch defending his newly won Sprint Cup Championship, Chase Elliott now the replacement for Jeff Gordon. Even looking forward to Brian Scott and XFINITY Series Champion Chris Buescher  succeeding at the top-level. Plus Clint Bowyer racing for one season for HScott Motorsports, as he is the driver in waiting to take the seat of a Stewart-Haas Racing driver who once again was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Brian Vickers: The Forgotten Michael Waltrip Racing Driver

Since Michael Waltrip Racing announced they were closing their doors back in August, we knew a lot of crew members and other employees would be out of work once the season ended. The organization allowed drivers Clint Bowyer and David Ragan to find rides elsewhere even during the season. So far, Bowyer has signed a one-year deal with HScott Motorsports in 2016 while being the replacement driver in waiting for Tony Stewart in 2017. As of now, Ragan is still looking for a new ride. Event Marks First NASCAR Race in New Daytona International Speedway Stadium

NASCAR announced today the 25 eligible drivers and the format for the season-opening 75-lap Sprint Unlimited at the new Daytona International Speedway motorsports stadium on Saturday, Feb. 13.

The event, which will be broadcast live on FOX, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, marks the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race following the completion of DAYTONA Rising, the $400 million frontstretch redevelopment project that has transformed Daytona International Speedway into the first motorsports stadium in the world.
