Truck-tastic: Busch Beats Out Peters in Closest NCWTS Finish at Daytona

Kyle Busch’s prowess was on full display Friday night during the Camping World Truck Series (CWTS) race at Daytona. Busch led a good part of the 100-lap event and he edged out Timothy Peters at the line to win his first career CWTS race at Daytona. Number 17 pays off big for Timothy Peters in Las Vegas

Timothy Peters took advantage of a rare mistake by Ron Hornaday Jr. on the last restart at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to win the Smith’s 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

Peters started 12th and when the last caution came out late in the race, he was running second to Hornaday, who is known for his prowess on restarts. When the green flag flew with two laps to go, Hornaday spun his tires and Peters powered to the lead. As Hornaday faded back, Peters held off Johnny Sauter to record his seventh career victory, his second of the season and his first in Las Vegas. Continue reading

Camping World Truck Series Fan Appreciation 200 Preview

The Fan Appreciation 200 presented by New Holland will feature the Camping World Truck Series at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, September 8th. Television coverage begins at 1:30pm ET with radio coverage on MRN, Sirius XM channel 90.

Four different drivers under the age of 21 have won Camping World Truck Series races in 2013, including the most recent winner Chase Elliott at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park last weekend. Elliott also made history as the youngest winner in the history of the series at 17 years, nine months and four days. Ryan Blaney – 18 years, eight months and 15 days –  was the previous record holder with his win at Iowa Speedway last year. Continue reading

Penalized For Violation At Pocono Raceway

Penalties have been levied to the No. 17 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team following last Saturday’s race at Pocono Raceway.

The No. 17 truck was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to the NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20B of the NASCAR rule book); and 20B-12.8.1A (the roof failed to meet the minimum height requirement during post-race inspection) of the 2013 rule book.

As a result of this violation, crew chief Butch Hylton has been fined $5,000. The team has also been docked six championship driver (Timothy Peters) points and six championship truck owner (Tom DeLoach) points.
